Creating templates

Hi all,

I am currently a Mac user with Adobe CS3 software, learning the CorelDraw on a PC. Our CorelDraw program is hooked up to an engraving machine in order to print on some products. I have created a template eps (AI) file and imported into CorelDraw where I separated layers. (See attached) I had one layer for the tooling template to place the products, another for the printable area on the products (in red), and then the third layer would contain the design to be engraved (text).

1. Is there a way to save this template for AI so that it can easily be placed into a CorelDraw file and printed without much knowledge of the software?

2. Is there a way that we would be able to create one rectangle of design and transfer this to the other sections? I am trying to avoid minor changes in size or spacing because that could ruin complete runs of products.

3. If I were to update one of the red rectangle designs, is there a way to translate those updates to the rest of the sections without copy and pasting.

4. Since each layer is basically just used as a template, and only one for design, is there a way to show the layers and only print the top design layer? Otherwise our engraving machine will engrave the rectangles on the products, which is unnecessary.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
