Creating an high resolution from a low image

I have a low res image (actually a diffuse file for a 3d model) that I would like to see if I can retouch to make a higher res image. I am wondering if there is some way of touching this up so the fabric looks real. Any ideas? I don't have the original.

There are far more proficient and technical members here who will most likely answer. This is a tough image to repair. But just to see what's possible, I passed the image through Topaz Gigapixel and also Topaz Denoise. Added a curves layer to raise the colors a bit more. Here's the result - not perfect by any means:

As an example of the enlargement process, I have included the results using the supplied image as the starting point, and then applied the steps in the link provided before. Since this was a 3D model, I aimed for a smoother result as opposed to one with fine thread detail (not sure if that is your goal or not). This image was upsized by 4X.

I have Toaz and tried it but still working on being proficient at it all. What settings did you use?

Hi @cineruss

Here is a link going through the enlargement process I use, posted a short while back.

As an example of one of the first steps is finding something online that is the original or close enough that it might meet the job. Using google image searches here is one that is close yet not identical as an example:

Hope that helps some

Thanks..will try this one too maybe with some transform settings

I generally go with the presets, ie with Gigapixel, I generally use the Standard preset. With this one, I used the Very Compressed option.
With DeNoise, usually use the Standard preset. It's really a judgement call with the particular image - sometimes I'll push it a bit to if it gets better or worse.
Remember - AI is convenient but it's not magic. Still have to use your own eyes.
