Hello, I've got a problem that's driving me crazy and I hope someone will be able to help me.

...imgur.com/RzEsb (can't post images nor links as it is my first post, hope it's not against rules to go around that way :b)

I'm trying to create a new shape that would be made from those two overlapping layers: text and circle, that would in the end create a shape which is shown in this image as the light blue. So basically what I'm trying to do is cut out the part of the circle that is not overlapping with text. I know I could do it with pen tool, but I'm sure there must be an easier and faster way, help anyone, please?

Is this what you mean? And like dv8 said you can upload your image via the reply window using the square icon with the tree in it. You're more likely to get help if the image is in your post. Well, now it is. In the meantime, if this is what you're looking for, it's using a clipping mask. Someone will be around to explain if you need the info. I probably won't be back for a while.

As clare mentioned , it's a clipping mask...

create your shape layer filled with light blue over the text with fill of choice.

hold down ALT + click line between the two layers to create the clipping group.

hope this helps.
