Hi everyone, I'm looking for some help on how to create the effect/look of gold gilded page edges from an old book.

Since this is my first post, I can't post links. But, if you go to Shutterstock.com has an example of what I am talking about.

Photo: Closeup of a book corner with gold-gilded edges and a red ribbon marker.

Any tips/suggestions/methods are appreciated!!

Thanks

that should help you and others to form suggestions....... welcome and good luck

1) Make selection of page edges and copy.
2) Make new document and paste in pages previously copied. Convert to greyscale, than to a duo or even a tri tone. Play with the curves of each channel until you get results you want.
3) Make selection of duo (or tri) tone and drag back to original image (it will come in as new layer converted to working colorspace).

OR...

1) Make selection and use an adjustment layer -"solid color" (make it yellowish gold color) and set to "hue"
2) Fade back opacity/saturation until you get desired result.
