Could Someone Please Help Me Achieve This Effect

I am making this for a clan called X TOY SOLDIERS X (yes, I know). I have the idea in my head and really want some advice on how to follow through. Here is what I have got so far:

What I really want to do is make it look like the right hand side is one of those plastic soldiers you see in Toy Story. I will then work on blending it in properly.


So, I want to keep the relatively opaque clipping mask, but allow certain detail to come through (mainly the interior outlines).


Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Play with the opacity levels till you get it where you want it

You see, I did try that. The green layer just looks to solid and to much like what it is

You could use the plastic wrap filter and then color it to your liking.

That is perfect. Could you please link to a tutorial where I can learn that please? That is JUST what I need.

There is no link to my brain not any that I can access but here is the steps I did in my make it up as I go along world.

Make a selection of just the soldier

control and J to copy it to a new layer on its own

go to filter gallery if your in cs6 and above and in the artistic section choose plastic wrap I put this at 20 for highlight 10 for detail smoothness 7 But this is just down to your preference if you want it smoother then adjust the settings so.

Create a new layer and apply a clipping mask to the soldier layer and fill with #065017 and set layer blending mode to overlay.
