There is some truth to it but not as black and white for it

Example 1 I take the mcdonalds logo swapo every colour then that is 75% worth of editing just by adding a hue saturation adjustment layer and 15 seconds of photoshop does that mean I can open a chain of restaurants with that logo.

Example 2

I sing my own variation of britney spears song Womanizer (honest first song that popped in my head) Mix up the versus and chorus change the words slightly and sing it post video on youtube and that makes the song mine to use however I want.

I am sorry but using anyone elses work even just 2 or 3% could lead to you being in a court case.

There are exceptions to this rule if you have license agrrements or written approval from the person who owns the content.

There have been cases where a logo was designed with a free font however the logo broke copyright as the agreement in the font was not to be used for commercial work same as brushes, shapes and patterns.

That said if you see an idea you like and want to incorporate the idea into your own work that is not such a bad thing as long as you do not copy it exactly and you create it.

What is our favorite program/app? (Hint - it begins and ends with the letter P)
