Copying layers from one file to another ???

When I drag a layer from one PSD file to another PSD file.
Both files are 8x11 and 300 DPI.
For some reason it automatically decreases the size of that layer I want to copy down to about 25% of the original size.

Does anyone know why it is doing this?
 
IDontknow if this is your problem but when dragging and dropping from one psd to another hold down the shift key. This keeps proportions the same and placement as well!
 
If the resolution and pixel dimensions of both images are the same I don't know why it would duplicate as a smaller size.

Are you copying just one layer and maybe it doesn't fill the whole canvas? Or maybe double check the pixel dimensions....

I don't know if it would make any difference, but you could try right-clicking the layer you want to copy and choosing Duplicate Layer... then select the file you want to copy it to.... instead of dragging and dropping.
