I am having a problem with copying one .png to another .png.

I am trying to combine 8 .png files into 1. The way I am doing this is by expanding the canvas on 1 of the .png files and then going to the other and using the rectangle marquee tool to select the .png and then copying and pasting it into the other .png. When I do this it is causing there to be a color change in the copied .png. Does anyone know what is causing this to happen?

I have maybe 20 total hours over the last 5 years of photoshop experience so if there is an easier way to combine the .png files please let me know.

Thanks for your help!
