Converting 1 gig+ psb files to 72dpi jpeg

Hello,
Just joined the group and I'm wondering if anyone reduces over a gig size files for web portfolio viewing.
The problem I encounter when reducing a 1 gig psb file to jpeg is a total mush... :mad2:

Suggestions are very much appreciated,thanks!
 
Not real familiar with psb's, I know they can be opened by Photoshop and exported as Tiffs. Could you possibly use File/Save for Web function in Photoshop? Maybe export as a tiff, reopen with PS and then Save for web. Use PNG as your format as it is not lossy like jpg.

I have tried a number of different approaches.
Resizing from a large document format (psb) 1gig+ 300dpi to 72dpi jpg is a nightmare!
Neither jpg or png work well. I am hopping for some sort of algorithm resizing software?
 
I have some software called Advanced Jpg Compressor. It can take very large files and convert them to Jpg's without any appreciable loss of quality. However your PSB is not a compatible format, but most everything else is. I use it quite often to speed up transfer of files over internet etc. It costs $35.00 and is from http://www.winsoftmagic.com/

Well, the software is Window based only, and I have Mac.
So my solution is simple - screen shot! It looks good at 72 dpi.

One of my many failings, I forget about the Mac issue sometimes. Yes, I started to suggest the screen shot solution you have arrived at, but was trying to give you a software solution. Hope it works out for you.
