Hello Guys, my name is William and I'm a Photoshop newb, I barely graduated from youtube university and I'm here hoping to further my knowledge.

Now I'm currently working on something, I took a Picture of myself and I grayscaled it so it looks black and white. My goal with the picture is to get it to look like this john_lennon_psychedelic_by_renous-d5tazl5.jpg
My initial picture is just a color photo that has been gray scaled to look like I sketched it.
Any help from you Vets will be greatly appreciated,

Thank you.

Well this is a classic case for illustrator, but you can easily achieve the same effect with photoshop albeit it being non vector.
It is pretty much a three step process;

1) Create the black cutout portrait.
2) Create the colored backdrop.
3) Put one on top of the other.

Depending on how far along you already are with this, its a pretty quick process. If you have the cutout you did, please post it, and perhaps we can walk you through how to go about replicating this effect.

Oh and ofc, Welcome!
