Hello guys, im completely new to photoshop. And i would love to learn it and start doing webdesigns later on.

Could you "newbie friends"(:)) tell me from where to start learning, links or anything that helped you, and that can help me to start with it.

Tutorial thread here on forum is too confusing for me cuz i cant find some basics, or i am just bad at searching forum...

Cheers guys :cool2:

The best advice I can give you: Go to the library (it's free) and get a book on Photoshop. It doesn't matter which version of Photoshop, the basics are the pretty much the same regardless. Learn the basics first. After you know the basics then look at YouTube or search for tutorial on the net, but learn the basics first.

Hi PoP, welcome to the forum. It's good advice from Hawkeye; it's always good to learn from different angles. You might want to consider sites like lynda.com or kelby, but they are not free. You can get very comprehensive instruction in these videos.

What I did was I use tutorials etc on areas of Photoshop that I really enjoyed and was interested with. Once I had learned quite a lot in that area most of the other stuff I could do quite easily because of the techniques I had previously used.

Youtube is a great way to start, enjoy :-)

Thanks everyone! Ive already started some free basic tutorials... I might consider later to subscribe at lynda for month or two.

Ill become active member from now on, so ill see you around :)

If you need to learn Photoshop from the beginning you should look for a book or ebook or that delivers articles about Photoshop from the beginning. If you spend much time online a blog will be the best medium for you to learn photoshop. :)

Videos worked much better for me than books, since you see the changes immediately and instructor even gives you more detailed explanation from his experience than book does. You can get videos on youtube too.
I would, after total basics which you can find by yourself like contrast/saturation/basic tools, start with selections, layers, masks. And do not forget adjustment layers too, as they are nondestructive.

I didnt read books or watch videos. I just messed around with photoshop over some time. I'd say this way is the best way to learn how to do things. If you follow a tutorial you dont retain what you do, but if you do things by fiddling around with PS yourself and learn new things that way it stays with you.

For more advanced stuff its prob a better idea to read some tutorials and then give them a go yourself.

Like others said.... hands on experimenting sometimes is the mother of learning....

As well as a keen interest to learn Photoshop. Without it, no amount of experimenting or reading will retain in your head.
