Combine Two Images Together using Photoshop

I have two images, one that I want to superimpose onto the other.

Image 1:blank mouse pad.jpg Image 2: contra.jpg

I want image two to fit perfectly onto the mouse pad area without going over the edges at all. Just erasing image two is not accurate enough. What would be the best way to go about doing this?

For me the best way would be using the pen tool to go around the mouse pad and then change the path into a selection.

Then select the entire konami image and paste into the mouse pad selection... alt+shift+ctrl+v

You have to learn the pen tool to do that which isn't difficult and is a nifty thing to know how to use in photoshop.

The easiest way would be to use the magnetic lasso tool to go around the edge of the mouse pad to get a selection and then paste the konami image into it like above. To resize konami image inside selection press ctrl+t

Alright, I've used the magnetic lasso to select the area in which I want to paste the other image, but the other image gets pasted on the entire area instead of just the selection. Do I copy the Konami image from another document in photoshop and then paste it in with alt+shift+ctrl+v? Or is there another process? I see how to resize it with ctrl+t but I can't seem to figure the way to paste specifically in that selection and only in the selection.

Yh load the konami image into photoshop and copy it into memory by selecting the entire image with the square marquee tool then press ctrl+c

Now the konami image is in the clipboard/memory.

Goto the mousepad image and paste into the selection as mentioned above. The paste into can be found in edit/paste special/paste into or hitting alt+shift+ctrl+v

When you'll do it you will think it was too easy :)

Tip: After I use the Pen Tool to outline the object and change the path into a selection, I always create a new layer and fill the selection with any color (doesn't matter) as to create a permanent "template" of the object I was outlining that I can come back to later if need be. Then I just turn the layer off so it's out of the way.
