Combine black & white with color

I wonder if there are a name to the technique of combining black and white with color.
Example: Yellow Giant by ~Fossensphotos on deviantART

Yes, this is called 'Selective Colour'.

I do mine by making a duplicate (Ctrl+J) of the image the Layers Pallet, adding a layer mask, and then paint over the area to reveal parts of the colour image beneath.
