GTS.jpgHello, we are having trouble changing the color of this car from white to blue.

We have tried the Hue/Saturation technique and other, but the color will just not change. We have the file in .psd as well, neither one can be recolored.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

Well, I tried to attach it, but the Forum said I needed 8 posts to be able to attach. Is there another way to attach the .psd?

cars are my favorite chopping block lol what color blue? Mustangs rock!

Thanks, I found the youtube video and tried the technique last night. But, as noted on video comments, it does not work for a white car. Unless I did something wrong, I don't think this will work.

I didn't look at the video but try this.
Make a good selection of all the white area of the car.
Create a Hue/Saturation adjustment layer and check the box marked colorize.
Lower the Lightness Level, then play with hue and saturation.

The PSD is in the Zip file.

Hopefully it will open, we're having some problems right now with file uploads.

Edit:
I didn't see your color requests when I posted this.

OK this is the closest I can get.
The problem is that the car is white.

The color swatch is the true color.

Take the method I mentioned with Hue and saturation and get as close as possible to the color you want.

Stamp the visible layers, Ctrl+Shift+Alt+E . This is important.
This combines all the visible layers but keeps the originals.
Now your working with only the new layer, make the otheres invisible.
Now go to Image|Adjustment|Replace Color, sample the image as shown on the Youtube Video, then click on the replacement color and enter the exact value.

I greatly appreciate all the help you folks have provided. Turns out it is hard to recolor a white object, even for skilled photoshop experts. But, you did great and I think I can follow your instructions to get to the colors we need. Thanks agan.
