Color Problem

I am having a problem with color in PS CS2. I have existing work I did in Illustrator & Quark Express using a CMYK color of 100-70-0-0. When I try to use this color in PS CS2, it is not even close to the original color. I even tried to copy & paste it into PS with no luck. I am using the same printer and looked in the color settings and everything seems to be similar.
Is there something I am not doing?
Thanks for any help you can give.

Is the color different in PS or just when you print? If the color is different from illustrator to PS then you're probably copying the color values wrong, but if its just the print-out thats off, maybe you need to adjust the printer color setting from PS.

What I actually did was make a block in Illustrator and colored it in with the CMYK formula of 100-70-0-0, printed it, and it was the correct color. I cut & pasted the block into PS and printed it and the color was off dramatically.
Prior to doing this I tried using the CMYK formula directly. The color is the same when printed.
What printer settings in PS would I need to change ... and to what?
Thank you very much. I appreciate any help.
Cindy

It could also be that you can't reproduce CMYK in RGB and vice versa. You can get close, but they each contain colors the other can't reproduce with current technology.

Good chance you need to color calibrate your system and make sure you're using standard color profiles for your documents.

Hi, Cindy!
Is the file a CYMK or RGB one in Photoshop?
Ditto with the color profile, as Mindbender states.
Did you compare your color settings in Photoshop and Illustrator?
If you are using the whole Creative Suite, the color settings should be synchronized.
