This is my version of that tutorial.
Here is my image. This will be my bottom most layer or base layer or original layer.
The first step is to create a new layer by clicking the new layer icon located at the bottom of the layers panel.
Name the new layer “color-overlay”.
Next, choose the
Eye Dropper Tool.
Select an area from you image that contains a color you would like to use as your overlay color.
Here, I will sample the yellow color from the Jose Quervo label...
Notice that my foreground color has now changed to the sampled color.
Make sure that your color
overlay layer is highlighted/selected.
Then hit Alt/Option + delete on your keyboard.
Your image will turn the color that you sampled, in my case yellow.
The color
sample layer in your layers panel should also be yellow.
Now with the
color overlay layer still highlighted/selected, click on the master opacity arrow to bring up the opacity slider.
Slide the opacity down until your happy with the image.
This is about 35% opacity.........
