Hello,

I have this problem with Photoshop that I was never able to fixed. When I open ANY image into photoshop it ask me to do a color management profile. Now, I do not knwo which profile would be best. ALL my projects are listed on the web and for color print out use as well.

I never had a problem until photoshop will ask me every time I open an image within the program what profile to use. I've been experimenting and I cannot find a profile that would be best for both on screen and print.

Here's an example below of a photo collage showcasing my abilities in photoshop and zbrush:
2011-01-16_233910.jpg error.jpg

The one on the left is how I want the image to look. That is what I see on my screen. But if I were to save it as an image for web or print what I see is on the right.

It just does not look right and this has been happening to all images and I cannot afford to screencapture anything anymore as it's not detailed enough.

What should I do with color management, what should I use that would allow me to save projects exactly the way I see them in photoshop for both web and print????

I went to Image/AssignProfile/ and tried all the options, even the don't color manage this document. And still the same results.

Thanks.

sent PS working space to Adobe RGB or Prophoto
you can check, covert new files to the working space, or have it ask you each time...

next step would be to calibrate your system... monitor and printer...
then PS, your monitor and printer will see the file the same way...
at the moment, they are speaking English, Russian and Chinese...

Thanks for responding.

I open a snapshot in photoshop and the work space box came up. it was already adobe RGB. With convert, I saved the image under a new name and did a comparison. The colors look slightly muted and dull?

How would I calibrate my printer and monitor? I'm not using a monitor exactly, it's a 32" HDTV.

Everything colorwise on the monitor looks great except when I save the image as a jpeg and boom, saturation.

What is the color management on default when you first install photoshop? Because this never happen before until I tried open a photo for blemish corrections.

To add to what smalltrees was saying, calibrating your monitor is important and easy but you need to buy a monitor calibrating device like a i1Display or the hueyPRO.
This may be enough if you are using the proper settings when printing in Photoshop.

Unfortunately I don't think this will work for you since you're using an HDTV.
Your TV has color and tint adjustments a monitor has Red Green and Blue adjustments.

If you're creating an image from scratch you should be using Adobe RGB or Prophoto.
Not all devices support Prophoto but it's better to have the largest color space available.

If you're using a camera set the the largest color space usually Adobe RGB 1998.
When something is going on the Web you should convert to sRGB and Save a Copy but don't convert the only image you have to sRGB, keep it Adobe RGB.

When you convert an image from Adobe RGB to sRGB you throw out a lot of color information.
Yes you can convert that sRGB back to Adobe RGB but the colors are gone.

When printing you should be using Adobe RGB.
The important thing when printing is to disable all color management setting in the printer duologue box and make sure PS manages color.

Under Printer Profile in the PS print duologue box choose the exact paper your printing to.

Here's a device that can calibrate your monitor (not TV) and printer:
