I'm curious. How did you do that and get such a natural looking white? I have tried changing colors to white and not gotten good results.

I have come close be desaturating the original and then painting white on a new layer and playing with its opacity and layer blending.

With lowering opacity it's impossible to create realistic looking. Here is how i make it white:

Create new layer

Set blending mode to Color (next to opacity where you ahve Normal as default)

Take brush tool and set bright color and start painting on the car (make sure the color stays the same the whole time)

Once you have painted the whole area, choose from top menu Layer -> New Fill Layer -> Solid Color -> Ok -> Make it black

Place that layer over your painted area and hold alt and click between those layers (you can see the cursor change) Now the black layer only affects on painted area

Windows -> Adjustments, make sure they are available.

Hold ctrl and click painted layer thumbnail and it selects everything in that layer

Click Hue/Saturation on adjustments panel and start adjusting those Saturation to zero and with Lightness make it more white

Hold ctrl and click painted layer thumbnail

Click Exposure on adjustments panel and adjust exposure to make it more white/bright

Place hue/saturation and exposure layers below painted layer before adjusting them.

This is the layer structure i have there:

Hope this helps :)

And JohnD, yea some parts are missing those if you look closely, but the average look is there.
Didn't use too much time for this.

" I don't have that problem with my solution which makes use of channels and 1 adjustment layer."

You could share this technique.
