I suggest that these images were reflected on some uneven surface.

You can do it in PS, if you are familiar with it's 3D tools.

Just make 50% Gray image, select 3D->New Mesh From Grayscale->Plane object, set it's reflection to 100%.

Create 3D Postcard object from your image.

Merge the two objects together, place them so that they directly face each other.

Move the camera right through the image object and looking at Plane object.

Then place different patterns on the Plane object's Depth Map, tweak its Depth scale and preview the result.

I have pre-made PSD file with all these things already set up, but on another computer.
