I am trying to add a Charcoal Filter Effect to my image in Photoshop CS6. My problem is, when I do that, whole image goes black. I tried all adjustments on right hand side but nothing is changed. I did not experienced with this problem in Chalk & Charcoal effect, it was perfect. Why did this happen? How can I make a proper Charcoal Effect to my image?
Thanks for your advices.

It would help if you posted the image your trying to filter!

The image itslef may not suitable for the Charcoal filter. This filter works using the contrast in the image, if there is a lack of contrast the filter will not work.

At the very least, posting the image will give us a chance to rule out the above.

I am trying to Charcoal this image.

Ok, the Charcoal filter works fine for me on this image.

In reference to the original .PSD, have you altered the image from it's original state in ANY way, like changing the background or adding any other adjustment layers to this image?

Try this.............open the .PNG file you saved and posted here. Not the original .PSD! See if the filter will apply.
