channels question

i am playing around with channels and by turning off certain channels you can get great colour effects but when I save out as jpeg or tiff it doesn't render the same effect. Is there a way to render single and multiple channels?

Yes, you need to paste something into the channels you want killed - 50% grey or black should do it.
Alternatively (assuming photoshop) then select your channel, ctrl+a, ctrl+c, select rgb, then ctrl+v will paste a grey copy of that channel into a new layer.
