changing colour using magic wand

I have selected part of a photo i wish to change the colour of using the magic wand

now when i goto change colour using hue and saturation I cannot locate the exact colour that i want...

any ideas re this much appreciated

get the brush tool set it to the colour preference and paint over it ON A NEW LAYER and then set the blend mode to soft light.

thanks...the thing is the section i want to change is not just a plain colour but has texture etc since its a photo of a canvas painting...will the below still work ok with this?

yes, the soft light blending mode should keep the texture intact, it's the blending mode i use to recolor black and white images

OK i duplicated the layer, selected brush tool and the colour i wanted and painted over the area - then when i went to blending mode and changed to soft light, the colour changed back to the original colour before i started editing....

hmm...any ideas? thanks

bgecause you've duplicated the layer, you just create a new blank layer. the selection you made should stay. if that still doesnt work play with the blending modes a little
