Change direction of text on path

Hi everyone, I am going mad trying to figure out how to make text go from left to right within a circular Workpath that I have created. I realise that it is possible to move it with the direct selection tool, but why is it so hard to make it go from left to right inside the circle?

I don't understand, the direct selection tool or path selection tool allows you to simply move the text on a circular path, so what's the problem?
