Springtime SpecialChallenge:Design a Poster

The deadline for this challenge is Midnight GMT, Saturday, March 30[SUP]th[/SUP]

March is a month with many spring celebrations. The Earth is awakening, snow is melting (in some areas of the world that is), cherry blossoms are opening, people are drinking green beer, basketball teams in the US are doing the March Madness thing, college kids are converging on popular party spots for spring break, people are planting, and others are observing Lent in anticipation of Easter. Except you down-under guys expecting autumn . . .

Some of the holidays are March 17[SUP]th[/SUP], St. Patrick’s Day; March 22[SUP]nd[/SUP], Earth Day; March 20[SUP]th[/SUP], the Spring Solstice or Ostara; March 31[SUP]st[/SUP], Easter Day.

This challenge is to create a poster for an event. Create your own event (for eg: invite the girls over for an Easter Wreath Crafting Party; boys, you come up with your own ideas … tupperware anyone?), make a poster for a real life event in your circle of influence (eg: baby shower for a boy about to be born this month; or maybe you know a pub owner planning a Paddy’s Day event), honor one of the events mentioned above. Just be creative.

I’ve put together a few links. Two of them are for tutorial collections on making posters in Photoshop. The 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] is a more “scholastic” guide for what to use as criteria in designing the elements of a poster.

If you’re having trouble coming up with an idea to spur your imagination, pick a springtime theme based on a quote that is relevant to the season. The rest is up to you and your muse.

Have fun.
Remember, you can edit your image as many times as you like until the end of the challenge. This is better than posting it multiple times. If you have any problems using the attachment manager, PM me and I’ll take care of it.

Very well done! You're going to have to give up that beginner title smoke. 35 layers is about right for complicated compositions. So don't think you have too many! Sometimes going through this kind of work will show that you can cut down some. As you learn, you learn short cuts and more techniques, etc. All part of the 25 cent tour

No way I can meet smoke's challenge, sigh. Luckily, I'm not in the running for votes!

This is 1/3 size the original. I really made it small poster size, 20 X 24 inches (you worldly folk can translate that into centimeters. ~50X60 if I have my conversion factor right . . . )

So... my 3.14 is full circle and your equinox makes Earth's axis equator as the Sun's...
to many circles....
someone make it square please :D

nice one there Clare!

paul's avangardism is with deep mind....(why wouldn't you finish it?)

clare - square :)
i think that gradient background would look much more postery if you add some rough noise

I could huh/ Might. Just meant it as a joke anyway!

Took 30 minutes as opposed to 12 hours and you guys will probably like it better!

OK, I added the noise version up above.

Didn't need to do any more to it, does what i intended - GETS THE MESSAGE ACROSS.

Mmmm, makes me thirsty. My absolute favorite of all. Pity I never got to Ireland before I quit drinking. They say that the source is far better than the version we have here in the US, bottled or canned. LOL.

Cute Mike.

Oh yeah, now you're cooking. The last one was just to thaw out your fingers so you could create the main course. Really nice Mike, really!

Actually, I suppose you got to this 2nd entry after a few mugs of the Guiness . . . would that not be so? And did you not then crawl up int the chair and make this one? No sotted at all, at all!

OMG, it's on Sunday! Thanks for the heads up hershy. Road blocks in my town next weekend; sheriffs looking for green drunks. Even though I don't drink, I think I'll stick to the side streets, lol.

BTW, nice avatar, mc mike
