Cartoonish Effect

Hi time, welcome to the community.

Those images have been 'air brushed' manually. There's no specific plugin or filter that will give you that effect.

Simply put... open the original photo and manually paint/brush over it.

There are a few tutes around that can help get on started learning this technique, but i don't recall the urls right now. I'll have a look around.

Hopefully someone else can point us to the urls... anyone else know?! :D

Perhaps check the PS Links board here too there may be something already posted there...?

I felt those portraits (at least in the large image) had been airbrushed but wasn't sure if it had been done in PS or by the old trusty Paasche and then scanned into PS where the photographic elements were added.

Here's a description of how that might be done in Photoshop...

Here is a breakdown of how to do a portrait with an airbrush. While it intended for physical media, the techniques could easily be applied to PS layers.
