Hi

I have PS CS5 Extended version installed on xp sp3.I can't update 12.0 to 12.0.1.I downloaded the patch from softpedia.com and when installing it gives me the error that another updater is running but i am totally sure that no adobe processes were running.

Searched on adobe forums.Only 1 thread about this problem with no working solution.

Any help will be appreciated.

I don't understand why you're going to softpedia.com instead of Adobe for updates.
Open PS, click on Help|Updates and see if that is any better.
Tried it,same result.Even when i try to update from Photoshop itself it gives the same error that another updater is running.I go to softpedia because i can download without registering any email, info etc.

Just needed to ask.

Set up a gmail account and register with Adobe, I don't see an issue with giving them an email address but if you do this is a way to stay in touch and stay anonymous.
Adobe support is who you need to talk to about this.

They should be able to help you or give you a refund.

Problem solved.

1) Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel (The Control Panel Opens)
2) Double Click on Administrative Tools Icon. ( Administrative Tools Folder Opens)
3) Double Click on Services Icon ( The Services Panel Opens).
4) On the Right side of the Services Panel is a list of services available for the computer, arranged in alphabetical order.
5) Scroll down to the service "Work Station" (Probably the second last of the list).
6) Right Click it and "Start" the service.
7) Now install your updates.
