first of all, hello everybody

i've been driving myself to the edge of crazy over the past few hours trying to replicate this effect. i'm by no means a photoshop expert (obviously), but have used it for the past few years. still, i'm stuck at this and maybe it's really easy to solve. the effect i'm talking about is the following:

tock-vector-eps-realistic-design-elements-70544569.jpg

vector--free-and-free-trial-labels-vector-64163626.jpg

note how on the left side of the graphic, the item seems perfectly even with the background, yet on the right side it's "standing out" as if it was a sticker.

i have no problems achieving the background effect, but i'm stuck at how to get this effect done. i've tried rotating the graphic, twisting it, distorting it, but i can't seem to be able to replicate the effect correctly.

any ideas? anybody? :-? i'd greatly appreciate it! :bawling:

1 method to do it manually here is a quick mock up
1) draw your shape
2) on the curl end use the square marquee tool and make a square selection
3) add a gradient adjustment layer black to transparent over the square
4) press control and T to bring up transform box right click and select warp
5) drag the corners in to get a curl shape
6) apply a drop shadow

Like I said here is a quick go to show you what I get 1st try you will get better results if you put time in or if you indeed use a 3rd party plugin

Hi rdoug

Welcome to PhotoShop Gurus

I've played a bit whit this Sticker Idea and this is what i got so far

pealing_stickers.jpg

Basically creating your shapes whit the pen tool, shape tools or simply by making selections and filling it whit color, but i'd prefer using gradients as shown 'cause esthetically looks better.

- create your shape, and make three copies of it which later on will become your shadows, a hard shadow and a soft shadow, filled whit a dark grey, and soft grey accordingly.

- You are gonna need to use your free transform tools on this project to mold your shape according to the given example.
Transforming tools like skew, warp, etc.

Also added PSD file for reference purposes.
Some more instructions inside as notes.
