can't change image to one color, please help

I have a star that I would like in a specific color, but am having issues changing it with the replace color and/or color replacement tool. The image is small, but I am trying to have all the pixels. The color I want to use is Pantone solid uncoated 655 U.
This is the image I am trying to change.



Please help, I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong.

Have you tried adding a new layer on top, changing the blending mode to colour and painting over with whatever colour you wanted? It's strange the replace colour function isn't working with this because it should.

Hmm I tried to take your pic and use

Image -> Adjustments -> Hue/saturation (remember to click colorize)

If you do this and mess around with the saturation and hue I'm sure you'll be able to change to the colour you need

do it backwards then.
wand select all of the white background
hit delete to clear it if you want your image transparent
choose select-inverse
then edit-fill-use your desired color.
hope it helped.
alternatively, you may want to smmoth or refine edges of the selection before filling.

Hey guys! Thanks for all your help. I was able to find a larger TIFF and did the wand/invert. Worked perfectly. Thank you again for all your help!
