Can this batch clean-up be done?

I have a bunch of TIF images which have been scanned from negatives. Due to a fault with the scanner, every image has a very fine pink vertical line running from top to bottom, to the right of the centre of the image. I was wondering if there was any way of performing a batch operation to "erase" this line from a large batch of images?

See the attached for an example of what I mean

If you have adobe lightroom you can edit 1 image in the folder with the clone brush and apply it to all images in the folder whatever edits you make to 1 image.

However I cant guarantee all images will look good.

Thin, line-like image imperfections are just made for the content-aware fill tool. BTW, I presume you noticed that there actually are two such lines in the image.

What I would do is make a few pixel wide selection in one image, and then transfer that selection over to each image (in turn) that you are working on, tweaking the exact location as needed. Click on content aware fill, and you should have reduced the problem by a lot. When I'll get home, I'll demo it for you.

That being said, the image has several other fairly serious faults that may be able to be fixed at the same time. The first of these is the red cast.

More later,

Tom

OK, I did what I suggested in an earlier email, ie, use content-aware fill on an narrow vertical area a few pixels wide, centered on each of the two lines. If the blemish line is in the same place on each scan (plus or minus a few pixels), it's easy to set up a selection from one of your photos used as a template, and bring it into each of the many images you have to process. It only requires a few clicks to reproduce it in each of your photos that need processing. It's really quite simple.

PS - I also fixed the red cast + a few other minor things.

Great work Tom! I'm more interested in how you fixed the red cast, but only if you used Ps by itself, if you used a plug-in then never mind. Perhaps you could start a new thread so we don't hijack this one.

itm - I agree with the other members, this a simple fix (the lines) but will have to be done one at a time.

Hi Sam - I did all the color correction in ACR. I made a preset for you and attached it below. You can see each of the adjustments that I made.

FWIW, in the light of day, I now feel that I made it a bit too blue, but that's easy to fix.

Thanks so much - that works perfectly. I followed your instructions and then took the next step, which was to create an Action which I could apply to a batch of files (I have hundreds of these scans to deal with). The flaw seems to be in the exact same position on all frames, so this has been working great so far.

I'm still discovering all of the great features of this tool - your help is much appreciated!
