I have no idea what I should actually be doing to create this avatar.
Everything was fair game and I just had fun. After a lot of processing and hand work to the head, I made it square, added a background and downsized to 600x600 .

I think if I had had a 'team name' the results could have potentially been more to the OP's liking.
