I've been trying this affect on a pumpkin with my logo and can't figure it out,it never works right.

Can someone please try this affect, I also was trying to light up the pumpkin to.

Hi

I had a quick play and came up with this, with some more time it could be improved quite a bit but you at least get the idea. Pretty much ignored the tutorial you sent the link to and simply selected the areas you would be "cutting out" of the pumpkin, saved these as a selection and then removed them from the pumpkin layer. Then its just a case of putting a suitable background behind this to suggest a light source (I just made a very quick radial gradient) and place that behind the pumpkin. Have a play and see what you can come up with.
