Can anyone tell me how this line tool works?

Was watching a live stream just now where the artist was using photoshop. He had a brush that was doing something strange, where the line would start out small, become big in the middle, then go small again at the end. I enclosed a pic as an attachment to help illustrate what I am trying to say.

Can anyone tell me of this tool/utility/brush, and how to use it? Or where to acquire it if it is a plug-in?

This can be done in several different ways. For example:

If one has a Wacom (or equivalent) tablet, you can assign stylus pressure to the diameter of the brush.

Another approach simply involves using a flat brush. Brush in one direction and it gives a thin stroke, brush in the other and it gives a thick stroke.

A third approach is a variant of the previous method if you have a Wacom tablet that senses stylus rotation -- You can then map rotation of the stylus to rotation of the brush. If your tablet doesn't sense stylus rotation, but senses tilt, you can map that to brush rotation.

Thank you!!

Hi Steve,

If the artist in the live stream you were watching was making tapered (simulated pressure) lines with the brush tool very fast, then I agree with Tom! There is another way to make the simulated pressure lines without having a tablet.

Watch this
and it will show how it's done.
