Campaign 'logo'

Hi, new here :D

I'm requesting a somewhat 'simple' logo for someone to make. It's for a campaign I'm making in the game ArmA 2 called 'Liberation of Chernarus'.

Basically I would like an image of a black background with:

LIBERATION
.....OF
CHERNARUS

A few requests though...
Liberation: I would like to have the us flag in the image
of: just white
Chernarus: Blood spatter on white text

I tried doing it myself but I couldn't get any good results, especially with blue us flag on black ground, maybe it needs some kind of border?

I've uploaded what I did but I don't think it's good.

also the font I used is 'eurostile' in GIMP but if you could find or use more similar to the one in the 'arma' logo I uploaded that would be great :) more of a professional/wider/stylised/military font compared to the one I used. (the joined letters don't matter)

If it's not too much trouble I would like sizes of 128x128, 256x256 and 512x512 but if this is too much trouble then just 256x256 should be fine.

thanks so much to anyone who could make this!!!! :D

Here's my tip,

If you want blood splatter, then why not use a splatter brush?

1. Create your BG, I used a blue, if you want a darker BG, I would stick with lighter dark grays so that any layer styles would show. I dropped the hue slightly and added some splatter to this as well.
2. Create your text. Rastorize the text.
3. Command + click the text layers thumbnail to select, use splatter brushes to to create the blood splatter.
4. Add a layer style effect to separate the text from the BG, I just used a drop shadow.

Wow that looks awesome.

What is rastorizing? I followed this video on youtube but I don't know what it does.

Here's a version with the Flag clipped in.

1. Create your text.
2. Create a new layer, use splatter brushes to to create the blood splatter over the top of the text. Use black.
3. With the above layer highlighted, Command + click the text layers thumbnail to select, hit shift + command + I to invert the selection. Hit delete.
4. With this layer still highlighted, hit command + E to merge the two layers.
5. Add a layer style effect to separate the text from the BG.
6. Open the flag image and place it's layer on top. Right click the layer and choose create clipping mask.

I don't like this version as well as the other.

To ratorize the text layer, right click the layer and choose "Rastorize Type".

Rastorizing just converts the text to pixels. Sorry, I forgot you were using Gimp. I don't know Gimp.

hey hey hey! :D

I sure will answer any questions you have, and help you out by providing little tutorials.

I currently have duties currently in need of fulfilment but I'll be back online in about 2-2 and a half hours.

laters ;)

Just a little idea to put out, not a masterpiece, just an example.

Basically, to get a border around the text, requires the process of writing the text layers out as normal, then right clicking the text layer, select "text to path" then go to the paths bit of your layers tray if you don't know where that is, it's the one selected here

Right click your path, then select "path to selection" then copy the american flag or whatever and then pick a suitable outline color, go back to the path, right click, select "stroke path" leave it at the default unless the image size is large, then bump it up a bit press okay, and voila, outlines!

repeat the process for the other text layers.

there's probably a simpler way of doing this, but this way is suitable for now.

that's really cool :)

thanks for that, I'll probably try another myself when I get some time tonight. I'll upload when I'm done.

I can't do this to save my life, excuse my language but I think gimp is an absolutely **** program. it's so unworkable and the most unlogical program I've ever used.
