Bug: no screen update when editing

Hi

I hope someone can help me with this one...
When I work in photoshop CS3 and I use some tool to edit the image, it does not get refreshed by the graphics engine. The modification is done, but it only gets visible as soon as I force the graphic engine to reload the picture (for example: by dragging the window where the picture is in a little around in photoshop)
I tried to repair photoshop with the installer on the cd (took me 1,5 hours :S) and it didn't work.
Is anyone familiar with this bug? I hope so because this is VERY frustrating...

Thanks in advance

p.s. I am sorry if this is a known problem and is solved very quickly, but I don't know what words to search for when describing this issue

I don't know how to describe the problem another way. For example, hhotoshop does not show the selection box when I make a selection. This is also the case when I copy the selection and paste that in a new screen. The pasted graphic gets visible when I drag the window in photoshop, but not instantly when pasted. (which always has been the case obviously)

Like I said, I already tried reinstalling photoshop...

Check how much RAM u are using under the preferences; just make it a higher number or if u maxed out I would buy new and more RAM

Nope, that won't work either. I suppose it could be a performance preference, but this one does not work. I have set PS using 713 MB RAM right now. Should be enough, but when I restart photoshop, the issue still is present.
