Bug created in Photoshop

Really good one, Chris ... so good, in fact, I'll probably have bad dreams about a fight between your creation and Vincent Price in the last scene of the old classic, "The Fly". LOL.

Extremely creative. The way you used the armor to make the bug shell is fantastic and the wooden parts to make the legs.. I love it! A lot!

I could go on about how much I like this, but I think you get the point!

Thanks for your inspiring comment Jssicayla, it means a lot to me.

Love the bug Chris, very creative! Not sure what you were going for with the BG and the Cardinal though.

Hey Chris, sorry for the slow response. This is so nit picky and I won't be offended if you don't care about my observation. It's my OCD!!!

I misspoke in my previous post. I love the BG, it's the Cardinal causing problems! Just try moving his perch down and that will help.

Let me explain, I have seen birds perched on the side of a wall and they have a distinct posture....

....your Cardinal does not have this posture and you have him perched on the top of one of the indented areas of the BG where the white arrow is in the example.....

He might look better if he were perched on the tiny ledge provided by the indentation as indicated by the red arrow!

I told you it was nit picky!! LOL!! Just shoot me!

Thanks Sam, you got a point here ...This is a new version of the Cardinal sitting on a little perch. I also changed it's posture a little. Even if it's a very small bird in the picture it looks much better now. Never underestimate the little details. LOL!

Pretty righteous stuff Chris.

If I absolutely had to nitpick, I would say that the bug's legs need some light tweaking. Play on word light here. A light application of a reduction in highlights towards the lower portions of each leg will give the guy (or gal, tee hee) a bit more depth. Maybe add a slightly gradated overlay across all the legs to finish off the effect. Just my two nitpicking cents.

Thanks Crotale for your comment...and you are right about the highlights in the legs.

I saw the problem when I put the legpieces together one by one. I guess it's an optical problem. The highlight (which was completely white when I started) gets smaller and smaller by reducing the part of the leg. In this process you loose some pixels. On the smallest part of the leg the highlight is to small to look white. Partly is also a monitor problem.
