Corel had announced that Bryce would no longer be supported for Macs and in general it was dying under their ownership. GREAT NEWS!
DAZ Productions has just gained ownership of Bryce. They already have a site with tutorials, forums, plugins (Poser Imports etc.) and promise support and continued development for Mac and Windows. A new version is under development. To say the Bryce community has been reborn is no exaggeration!

That is great news. I love using Bryce, because for all the use that I have for producing 3D, for my work, it's the only product that doesn't require a PhD. :D

And with a bit of imagination and talent, it does render some awfully spectacular results, with pretty low overhead.

Good to see that Bryce lives to see another day. It'll be interesting to see what comes out of the redevelopment. \:]

Now if they (Daz) will include HDRI format export, that would be handy.

Is it Terragen that has this feature?

Welles, old bean, was it yourself that posted a *Slicie and Dice Tutorial* for large format images?

Tanya was asking for some advice on scanning a large map and I thought it might have been you who posted the tute. \:]

Cheers, Al.

Yup. Full mac support and a good future both for pc and mac. AND at a ridiculously low price! And downloadable for us oldworlders (no vat said the cat).

Pity its export is so limited...

Personally I expect to see Bryce advance in leaps and bounds now that DAZ owns it although what direction is hard to say other than being enabled to seamlessly incorporate DAZ content into Bryce images. I expect that the software is viewed as not their primary product for generating income but that selling content is where they expect their largest revenue streams.

Unfortunately I didn't write the image stitching tute which you are thinking of as "Slice and Dice Tutorial" and haven't performed that sort of image (or map) manipulation myself.

No matter Welles, I'll just walk Tanya through it if she still needs help.

Cheers, Al.

The last I had heard, and I could be mistaken, Corel had planned on dumping both Mac and Win9x support for Bryce 6. So this is great news for some Bryce users. :)
