Brushes and colors

Some reason everytime i try to use a brush the color is white, No matter what i try. The opacity and flow are both at 100%. Both the default and downloaded brushes are doing this. nfact the brushes act liek erasers. When i use them the next layer underneath becomes visible.

And I guess you got "Mode:" on normal?

Be sure that you're using brush tool and not color replacement tool.
( Right click on the brush icon in the toolbar )

You can use a brush with the eraser mode on. So I would double check your tool bar. Like Nixel said - mode? Also are you using maybe a mask?
