British Flag 3-D Text

I'm trying to make a rectangular banner with the word McQueen written in a 3-D text overlaid with the British flag. I've tried and failed over the last few days, but it always just looks so amateur. I found an image I've tried to replicate, but I just fail. I'll attach it so you guys can see what I'm going for.

Can anyone help me?

Not trying to double post or bump, but I realized I forgot to mention something... I like the text in the picture above but the letters are too close together and I dislike the downward angle. But again, I can't get it right, I'm just so hopeless with it right now.

I think you mean you like the font What is the font name?

Just made this using Arial Black and a 10 minute render in Photoshop CS6:

McQueen.png

The original is transparent, but started with writing the word 'MCQUEEN' then created a new layer and while holding the 'Alt' key I clicked in between the text layer and the new layer. Hit Google and found a high quality Union Jack flag then pasted this onto the new layer.

Once I had finished the render I then pasted the Union Jack over the top to create the colours on the extrusions.

Remote-Medic, I love the one you made, but I don't get the odd grey background and fuzzy barcode looking stuff infront of the text, but otherwise it's exactly what I was looking for. Would you happen to have the .psd or be able to change the background color?

I'm sorry if I'm asking a lot guys, but I really am very confused by transparent text and all the layers. I'm still very new.

The bar-code is my watermark fella and the background it just to illustrate this image.

I would rather have helped you create it yourself because that's what we try to do here, we help and by doing all the work ourselves you wouldn't learn how to do it. It's how we learned Photoshop.

The .psd I have of this has been flattened somewhat so I don't think giving you that will show you anything, however because we are a friendly bunch here at Photoshop Guru's I will post the un-water marked version.

Oh, I didn't realize it was your watermark. I do thank you for helping me out so much though. I hope to be able to do things like this myself soon, but I can be a slow learner at times. Again, thank you.

Chris, I would seriously like for you to do a vid tut on how you did this effect, I could not get the Union Jack to wrap around the extrusion material!!! It's very frustrating! :banghead:

Could I just point out that this flag is the 'Union Flag', and should only be called 'Union Jack' when flown on the mast of a ship, which are the only two names it has, just to clear up all the obvious confusion that people are having about the flags name.

Well in 1902 the Admiralty of the British Navy stated it could be called either, The term Union Flag was mentioned in King Georges Proclamation in 1634. I have always known it as the Union Jack as does everyone I know including high ranking friends in both the Navy and Army.

All is explained here, people do wrongly call it the Union Jack most of the time, which is unfortunate, especially when some of them know that The Union Jack only refers to the flag when it is flying on a ship.

Regardless, not really relevant for this thread so I will comment no further on it lol

Will get the tut done as soon as I have some spare time.
