Reset preferences and default workspace, or purge the entire thumbnail cache (Adobe Bridge CS3 and Adobe
Bridge)
Damaged preferences or workspaces can cause unexpected behavior in Adobe Bridge. You can fix display issues for thumbnail previews in Bridge by purging the central cache.
Reset preferences and default workspace, and manually purge the entire central thumbnail cache.
For Adobe Bridge CS3, hold down Control (Windows) or Option (Mac OS) immediately after you start Adobe Bridge CS3. For Adobe Bridge CS2, version 1.x, hold down
Control+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS) immediately after you start Adobe Bridge. Choose one or more of the following options from the dialog box:
Choose Reset Preferences to reset Bridge preferences.
Choose Reset to Default Workspace to reset Bridge to the default workspace.
Do not choose Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache to purge entire thumbnail cache. Instead, manually purge the central thumbnail cache.
To manually purge the central cache:
1. Open Bridge CS3.
2. Choose Bridge CS3 > Preferences > Cache or Bridge > Preferences > Cache (Mac OS) or Edit > Preferences > Cache (Windows).
3. Check the Cache Location path for the location of the Cache folder.
4. Close Bridge CS3 or Bridge.
5. Navigate to that folder, and delete the Cache folder.
On Mac OS, the default locations are the Users/[Username]/Library/Caches/Adobe/Bridge CS3 or Users/[Username]/Library/Caches/Adobe/Bridge folder. Delete the Cache
folder.
On Windows, the default locations are the Documents and Settings\[Username]\Application Data\Adobe\Bridge CS3 or the Documents and Settings\[Username]\Application
Data\Adobe\Bridge folder. Delete the Cache folder.
Note: In Windows, turn on Hidden files to see this location:
1. In Windows Explorer, choose Tools > Folder Options.
2. Click the View tab in the Folder Options dialog box.
3. In Advanced Settings, select Show Hidden Files and Folders.
4. Deselect Hide Extensions for Known File Types.
5. Click OK.
Note: When you purge the entire central thumbnail cache, you delete cached thumbnail information for all folders. You also delete labels, ratings and rotation settings for read-
only files (for example, files on a CD or locked files) or file formats that don't have XMP support. The "Purge Entire Thumbnail Cache" command purges the centralized cache
only. You can only purge the distributed cache manually.
