Yep..If the cartoon effect has not been used, what else can you do? One of my normal ways to answer that is to oversharpen, and add detail and contrast.....With a twist. I try to see a picture within a picture, selective masking to isolate , then I cheat, run my subject thru a bit of Topaz and tone the background. I grabbed this shot of the Packers in the huddle....I like all the grit.....You can do the topaz look, by using a fake HDR I am lazy so I Topaz !!
