I like.... never tried something like this before....

reminds me of an Indonesian lapis cake...

Actually the single line vertical marque tool on a colorful photo, copy-paste the selection, transform the width by about 11000, warped then painted in shadow and highlights.

Not as colorful as yours.... the only colorful image I can find at the moment.
