Hello photoshop gurus members.
I was wondering if any of you could help me.
I am trying to make a background like this one:
purple.jpg
I was wondering what type of eraser to use while delete background of characters, how to get this purple effect and what texture to use at the end
I started working on mine but it looks really bad, take a look

Thans would be really grateful for reply :)

Notice the purple parts are not erased but colorised, so you have to select them.

I know i colorised my blue parts in multiply mode but it still looks gross lol

Because the purple is a shiny colour which sticks out, your blue is dark almost navy, so it does not get attention like the purple. Try to play with luminosity and hue of the blue layer.

Any other tips for layers or anything?

I am still thinking how you have done it. I would select objects I want to colorise and use the selection as a mask for adjustment layers, hue ( or colour filter ), saturation, luminosity, maybe even exposure, curves.

You could also post either psd file or Photoshop printscreen and I am sure a lot of people would give you their input.

I did not play with fine selection, but check what just hue, vibrance and brightness/contrast adjustment layers have done.

when you cut the people out, use lasso and feather 2 px to erase. it makes the people look less cut out. and choose a different picture for the lady in bottom right, her head is cut off.

T'is Lady Ga-Ga and I would just open a new layer and paint what I wanted to be purple without any selections, and set the layer blending mode to colour, and if you went over the lines, just gently delete your mistakes with a feathered brush. As in the picture I have done to illustrate how it looks, you will see it is even easy around hair!

Also try not to use the erase tool, always use masks if you can so you have a non-destructive work flow.

Okay I will start over again cos i really need background like this it really fits in
purple.jpg
This are my questions:
-how to get a little bold lines outside body are those outglowing options?
-in which layer mode to colour clothes in blue?
-should i use any texture as background and what texture to use at the end?
-which psds to use for lighting
Thanks would give reputation for every answer :)

Hello,
now the beauty and power of Photoshop is that each effect can be achieved in several different ways using different functions, so you have to choose which way you like the most after you get description from more people.
- yes, I would go with edge options
- in my opinion adjustment layers, may be more of them
- as far as I understand you want the whole space filled by people, so there is hardly anything left for texture or very small as I see on this picture, but I think only very simple texture can go there, maybe something resembling wall
- if you write about making parts shiny I would go with adjustment layers again

If I were you, I would first put all people/objects in place and post them, it gives better idea for everybody what to recommend. I would try to have them in separate layers to enable different options like for outlining

Hey peta can you try making your version and post psd when you finish, if you have time of course xx
Also I noticed that characters in purple version are a little bit bigger than i made them

Last picture of yours purple to blue or somehow else ?
Try to make something in blue color and if it helps you this is a blue version

Edit: When i started making mine , i used this one as background as an example to paste characters on them, and to move layers go to filter-other-offset

So this is my blue from purple, do not take it as any quality sample, just as how I have done it for playing with all options, try to select it better, change adjustment layers to see the effect of modification.
