I was trying to add a cowboy hat to one of my picture I used a .gif cowboy hat and pasted it on the image resized it messed around a little with the brightness and curves but the hat still looks photoshopped could anyone tell me how I would go bout to getting the hat to blend in with the image instead. I am using adobe photoshop cs6.

Make the hat more proportional (it's too small), feather the edges, and add some noise filter (for grain).

Yep, it's a bit too small. You can also transform it, I think warp would be the best: right click inside the transform box and choose warp and you can make small adjustments to have it mold to his head better.

Did you warp the hat? Use another untouched one. Transform to fit the hat crown slightly larger than the size of your head. And rotate counterclockwise a bit. If need be, warp it a bit.
