Black and white flower to color

I did A black and white editing challenge just awhile ago and I wanted to show my result.

Still kind of mad that the winner just slapped "blue stars wallpaper"( if you search it in on google you can find one that pretty much looks identical to the one they used). Out of 7 other people who looked like they put more time and effort into it.

WOW. I really get annoyed when the winners of competitions make images using nothing but brushes made by somebody else, that is if they even did the space background themselves, and then he/she overlayed the B&W image. No skill involved there what so ever, and obviously judged by somebody that has no comprehension of what a good Photoshop edit is. Did any of you know it was a lotus flower, and the trees you see in the background would only have been reflections on the water surface, which if done right, would have looked 100 times more stunning than the star effort. After all, how can you improve on the beauty of nature. I'm going to see what I would have done to it now I've said all that. I don't want to be all jacket and no trousers.

Yeah the person that gave us the the black and white lotus flower didn't tell us what flower it was.I just based my color scheme off some other flowers.When I searched for lotus flower and found the original image and was surprised that the lotus flower looks somewhat like the one I colored in.
 
It would be easier for you to look at the .psd rather than me try and explain. all the different aspects of the colour are on different layers, apart from the final three things I did. Don't want to give all my secrets away. :)
