I just a new brand new laptop today. The other laptop was a bit slow and I wanted something faster. Picked up a HP Pavilion G7 series laptop. This thing is a beast, but on to the PS problem. I took PS off the old laptop and put it on the new one. Now anytime I try to use any tool on a photo in PS either the photo or the background around the photo flashes. What could cause this. The new laptop is running Windows 8 where as the old one ran Windows 7.

Have you got the computers tech info to hand, but suspect what iDAD wrote is the cause.

both have 4gb of ram. it worked fine on the old laptop but not the new one. I am planning on adding another 4gb of ram to the new one though.

Are you only running Photoshop or do you have other applications opened

Did you deactivate the Photoshop copy on your other computer before you installed it on the new one

I have google chrom and steam open as well and no it wasn't deactivated before switching. Can't do anything about that cause I set the old laptop back to factory to get it ready to sell.

Adobe requires Deactivation I'm not sure how many computers you are allowed It could be if you're allowing access for Adobe when you start the program try quitting Photoshop and then when the window comes up for permission deny it. I'm not saying that's the problem but it might be.

I'm going to start over again, maybe i did something wrong on the install

I think what it was is that PS was on an external hard drive and not on the computer it self. With the external hard drive disconnected is what was probably causing the issue. So I moved PS on the computer itself and re-installing. I think it should work now, we shall see though

Good luck no photoshop DT's are tough to handle

That's strange try resetting those tools

cause the legit copy was being paid for monthly, but i was having a hard time making payments. So instead of not having PS anymore I got the crack.

This would not affect performance.

Plus you basically have a cracked version of photoshop.

If that is the case, you can't be a serious Photoshoper, otherwise you would pay for it, like all of us did.

I think if you want it to work, you should pay for it first. I did, and mine works fine, though I'd never get windows 8. After getting the trial for developers, I realised it is very much another case of vista. And why do they want to put a touch screen on everything? why would anyone want to do work on a computer with finger marks all over the screen.

It's like putting finger print recognition tech on the flusher for a toilet. Useless!
