Hello, I sell sports jerseys online and I take pictures of the jersey on a manikin with a green screen background and then cut it out in photoshop CS4 using the quick selection tool however the sides of the jerseys come out all jagged. I do this all day so I was wondering what is the best and fastest way to cut the background out and just have the jersey on the manikin? Any help would be much apprenticed. Thank you

It sounds like your resolutions to low. A sample of what you're doing might help us see why. Also quick selection is probably not the best tool to use sounds like you might want to use the pen tool

Are you selecting the jersey or the background?

I would select the background if using quick select, then click on refine edge, and use the contrast slider, should give a clean edge, if not use the smooth slider.

That said, you could use the pen tool to select the jersey and have things crisper yet.

I would never use the quick selection tool to crop for something that is as important as a business, especially when its mine. I would use the Polygonal or Magnetic tools. Also, like stated about, after making the selection, look at the top for Refine Edge, and play around with the feather/contrast sliders to create a softer edge. The "SMOOTH" slider is definitely the one you're looking for. Increasing the smoothness with eliminate jagged edges the more you increase it, rounding things out.

Yes thank you Mike, that helps a lot. It comes out a lot more smooth. I was selecting the jersey and inversing to delete the background. And Im going to start playing with the other tools you guys mentioned.
