I am a newbie and was wondering if someone could help me. I am assembling a 200+ photo collage and was wondering how I can batch resize a folder of images to 3''x3'' 300dpi ?

I found the option in bridge but it sets them to 72 dpi. I don't see an option on how to change that.

i know but like i said im a newbie....kind of like a mechanic telling me i need to replace the motor in my vehicle. im not real sure hot to create an action to do this.

ronnier38930, it's very easy to do actually.

  1. Open up an image that you have not yet resized.
  2. In your Actions palate click the flyout menu in the top right corner.
  3. Click on New Action and give it a name. Click OK and you will notice the red circle at the bottom of the Actions palette is now lit up and you are recording.
  4. Go to Image --> Image Size and set the image to the desired resolution and pixel dimensions.
  5. Optional Step - save the image and close it.
  6. In the Actions palette click the Stop button. this will stop the action from recording.
  7. Go to File --> Automate --> Batch and there you can apply your new action to a folder of images. If you did not do the optional Save/Close step then you can do it here instead.

There's another way to batch resize in Bridge and save as a TIFF, PSD, or JPG and specify a JPG quality setting, no Action needed.

Open Bridge, select your files, then go to Tools|Photoshop|Image Processor
In that window:
#1 lets you make tweaks that will be applied to all the images in the batch.
I'm assuming you'll want to ignore #1
#2 Where do you want the new images sent, same folder (bad idea) new folder, (better idea)
#3 This is what you want: Enter the file type and size in Pixels
#4 Apply an action. I assume you'll want to ignore that too.
