Batch Conversion Question?

Hi Everyone,

I have a query that some of you photoshop gods might be able to help me with (Hopefully) :)
I want to convert around 150 scanned photos (.PSD format) into .jpg format. I would like to do this in one fell swoop using some sort of batch conversion. I know I can do this using Corel Photopaint, but I am not too happy with the results [stuned] Sooo......

Whats the easiest way to do this using photoshop?

Any tips/help would be great!

Cheers.

If you work with a PC, I can recommend doing it with Irfanview.

On the other hand: JPG is used to reduce the wieght of the file and is, on the other hand, lossy. Because each and every photograph is different, they will all ask for specific settings to get an optimal balance between filesize and quality.

Should you want to do it with Photoshop, then record an action that changes one psd into a jpg and set it to some mean quality (say, 70%). Then open the batch dialog, specify your in-folder and your out-folder, and the action (if you didn't create another one it will normally be selected), and go!

The important question I think is what do you intend on doing with the photos? If you only intend on archiving then yeah, the above stuff. But if you intend on working on these photos at any time in future and your heart is set on compression, then Tiff would be your optimum choice.
