Newbie here...I need help with the backgroundfx tutorial. I followed each step but when I arrive at the end, what I have is a nice layer of gradient and a layer of clouds. I know I have made an error...but I have stepped through the tutorial 3 times. I have photoshop7. Please help [confused]

Hmmm...my psychic powers see you being stuck between steps...um...27 and, um....228.

It's kind of hard to say exactly what you're doing wrong with what information you've given.

You are not the first person to take the tutorial, and you will probably learn what you've done wrong by doing it again and again if need be, until your results match the tutorial every step of the way. That's how everyone else has learned it.
Yes, you've done something wrong, but we can't fix it for you, nor even tell you at this point where or what you have or haven't done in the tutorial. Try it again, very slowly, checking all your settings at each step. Then tell us what at step everything changes.

I am new to forums...I'm sorry I didn't give you enough information.I'll try to be more specific. The layer that I apply the gradient to, and the layer that is the cloud layer....stay separate....ie the clouds never "punch" holes through the gradient layer. :{

Please just give us a hint which tutorial you are doing. There are so many on Bckgrnd fx.

;\ I discovered my error ...the first layer has to be white, or some other color! I wanted to make it transparent, so I could place it on any color of background
