Background turns red when I type letters

When I attemp to type on a white background it turns reddish. I have tried pressing Q to turn off `quick mask` assuming thats the cause although I have never used that, but that doesnt work , also pressed the `camera` type button and that doesnt work. Any ideas? Image below.

Did you check which Text tool you are in? I think you may be in the "Horizontal Type Mask tool". Choose the normal "Horizontal Type tool"

I didnt know that existed so must have changed it in error.

No problem! You must have pressed the buttons Shift+ T shortcut without being aware of it to cycle through the tools and got stuck there.
